American audiences may not be entirely familiar with XIII, but it's (apparently) a very popular conspiracy comic series in Europe. The series first reached our shores as an eye-catching but underwhelming first person shooter in 2003.

This iteration promises to bring the series back to its roots as a conspiracy and mystery thriller. The story is based around an amnesiac man named XIII who uncovers a plot to start a coup in the United States.

Judge Dredd Gamebook
Though not for lack of trying, GameBook Adventures haven't always caught the eye of gamers on the App Store. Which is sad, because we've seen the tech in action, and it can be a ton of fun. Players create their own characters complete with stat sheets (that's the "game" part of GameBook Adventures), and play through the narrative adventure (the "book" part) engaging in combat occasionally.

It's essentially an RPG with a heavy emphasis on story rather than combat. Which should appeal to any RPG fan that is tired of grinding experience from dungeon rats. For the newest GameBook, the company has even secured the rights to the ever popular Judge Dredd. Defenders of Ardania
At first blush you might ignore Defenders of Ardania for being "just-another-tower-defense-game," but you'd be foolish to do so. DoA is much more than that: it's a competitive tower defense game.

Brought to us by cult PC gaming favorites Paradox Interactive, Defenders of Ardania is exciting because it brings an offensive element to the normally defense-centric tower defense genre. The same pool of mana that lets players cast spells and build defenses, also allows them to summon minions to attack other players. It's a small addition, but one that has the potential to change the genre.
